Trueman Bradley Aspie Detective Post#1

Click on this link and read chapter one of Trueman Bradley Aspie Detective from page 7 to page 17. From the reading, answer the following questions.

  1. Which idioms or expressions does Trueman Bradley have difficulty understanding?
  2. Trueman knows that he had difficulty interpreting other peoples' facial expressions, which two, in particular does he get confused with?
  3. Trueman has some definite strengths compared to most other people.  What are they and how does he show this?
  4. What syndrome does Truman have?  Why might people who suffer from this syndrome be bullied?
  5. What evidence in Trueman's background suggests that he may have been bullied as a child?
  6. Go to the following web page and read the list of symptoms that children with this syndrome might have.  Then comment on at least one of these traits that you have noticed in yourself occasionally.  Tell which one, when you noticed or notice it, where it happened, and how it made you feel at the time.  (This does NOT mean you have ASD, but that we all may have, at times, shown some of the symptoms.:)
  7. Who are the people in the pictures above?  What do they all have in common?

Remember:
Draft your answers in MS WORD. Edit them for clarity and details; PROOF READ them for COPS before copying them into the blog editor and posting them.

  6. True man will not understand if you call him by his address. He would also not understand if you called money “the green stuff”. He would not get it if you said “well I will get out of your hair.” He does not understand any expression in general. The two expressions he mainly gets confused with are embarrassment and surprised. He has much strength in these things: great skills at math, a stunning memory and the ability to notice fine details. He shows them when he gets down on the floor and starts doing math or when he points out fine details about people. Trueman has syndromes like he does not understand expressions and he is not good at keeping things to himself and keeping secrets. He is very smart so I think he would get bullied because of that and because he does not understand expressions. I think that his conversation with Ernie is proof that he got bullied because after the conversation he got very upset. I do not like change and I have poor handwriting. I notice this when I am cleaning my room or writing a story. The people in the picture are bill gates, Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton and they all have asperger’s syndrome.-jaden

  12. The idioms or expressions Trueman Bradley has difficulty understanding are shell out, out of your hair and lend you a hand.

The two facial expressions in particular Trueman Bradley gets confused with are embarrassment and being surprised.

Trueman’s strengths are an incredible memory, being able to spot small things like a birthmark or a stain and being able to spot patterns and he shows them by taking small looks at things and completely memorizing every little detail.

Trueman has asperger’s syndrome and people who have asperger’s syndrome might be bullied because they don’t immediately understand expressions.

The evidence in Trueman's background that suggests that he may have been bullied as a child is he doesn't immediately understand expressions, so bullies could say mean expressions, and he wouldn't understand so he wouldn't say to stop.

One symptom of ASD I have notices occasionally is disliking any changes in routines. I noticed it when my mom said I had to walk to school every day from now on and it didn't make me feel mech different.

The people in the pictures above are Albert Einstein, Sir Isaac Newton and Bill Gates. The things they all have in common is they all have asperger’s.
